The Kaduna 177: From "Fake News" to National Tragedy – What the Police Didn't Want You to Know
While the world was watching Trump’s jets over Sokoto, a silent nightmare was unfolding in the Kurmin Wali community of Kajuru, Kaduna.
On Sunday morning, January 18, while three different congregations were singing hymns, the unthinkable happened. Armed men—estimated in their hundreds—surrounded three churches simultaneously. By the time the dust settled, 177 people had been marched into the forest.
The Denial That Sparked Outrage
The most shocking part of this story isn't just the abduction; it’s the cover-up. For two days, the Kaduna State Police and Government officials called the reports "falsehoods" and "the work of conflict entrepreneurs."
But the truth couldn't stay buried. Yesterday (Tuesday), after the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and local survivors presented the list of names, the police finally made a dramatic U-turn.
The Police Spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, has now admitted: “Subsequent verification... has confirmed that the incident did occur.”
The Details of the Raid
According to survivors who managed to escape:
The Target: Worshippers at the ECWA Church, and two Cherubim and Seraphim churches (Albarka 1 and Haske 2).
The Tactic: The attackers surrounded the churches from three directions. They told everyone that anyone who ran would be shot.
The Survivors: 11 people managed to escape as they were being marched across a river. Another group of elderly women and small children were reportedly released later because they couldn't keep up with the trek into the bush.
The Miracle: In a heartbreaking twist, it is reported that one pregnant woman among the captives gave birth while being marched through the forest.
Why are we just hearing the truth now?
Security experts are asking why the military and police initially blocked access to the village and tried to silence the reports. Was it to "prevent panic," or was it to hide a massive security failure?
As of right now, 168 Nigerians are still in the hands of their captors.
The Question for Our Leaders: How do 177 people vanish from a church in broad daylight while we have drones, satellites, and "intelligence"?
Share this post to keep the pressure on. We cannot let these 177 names be forgotten.
