In a candid interview with TV host Frank Edoho, Afrobeats artist Spyro shared the profound impact of constant criticism on his early life. The "Who Is Your Guy" singer confessed that his father's harsh words, particularly calling him a "failure," led to years of crippling low self-esteem: "My dad always told me I was a failure, and I began to believe it,” Spyro admitted, noting those words haunted his self-perception.
His turning point arrived when he embraced faith and prayer. Spyro credits a deeper relationship with God for shifting his mindset, allowing him to see himself differently and push past adversity. “God changed my mindset,” he stated. “Prayer and self-belief helped me overcome fear and opened new doors in my career.”
Before his 2022 breakthrough, Spyro nearly quit music to pursue interior design. However, his perseverance paid off massively when "Who Is Your Guy" became a continental hit celebrating loyalty. The subsequent 2023 remix featuring Tiwa Savage solidified his success, earning him the Best Collaboration award at the 16th Headies, a victory he sees as definitive proof that faith and persistence lead to triumph.
